The White House issue an invitation to Republicans in congress today to attend a health care summit to be held on February 25th. The summit was described as the "next step" in the process of fixing our system. Obama plans to unveil his own package of health reforms, expected to be a compromise between the house and senate bills which have passed seperately at that time.
I have mixed feelings about healthcare reform. We already have a form of universal coverage without universal contribution as people are covered for a minimum of emergency care whether or not they choose to pay. In a way, I see the mandate covering for this. A tit for tat along the lines of if we have an obligation to treat you, you must have an obligation to contribute financially to that support. One should come with the other. Also, the poor already have medicaid and the rich can always afford whatever they want so any increase in accessibility to health coverage is bound to help the middle and working class (even if it is with their own money) In the meantime, try shopping around for health insurance here to see if you can avoid being a statistic.

Republicans seizing the moment!
Been awhile since my last post. I find watching the crash and burn of Obama to be entirely fascinating. The dems are fleeing like rats from the ship and the prospects for a republican resurgence is looming. Sieze the day!!!!

Help Me Make Some Money (To pay the carbon tax)
I'm writing this today in sincere hope that the reader will feel my plight. With the house passing the Waxman Malarkey Carbon Tax I'm understandably in a bum mood. Sometimes it seems like the proponent of catastrophic manmade global warming are almost religious in their support of it. They treat deniers as outcasts and indeed fit for hell. No matter how many times you overlay previous IPCC predictions on reality and show that we're not warming near as fast as predicted, they'll cite a baseless dinosaur media article stating 'global warming is happening much faster than predicted'. Anyway the CBO has done an estimate that shows each family will owe only $175 to pay this carbon tax although the total cost will be close to $1000. Part of the discrepancy is due to the 'benefit' of a larger number of people making less, being in a lower tax bracket, and therefore paying less taxes. Also, people won't be able to afford to buy stuff and will be forced to do without (technically that doesn't 'cost' anything either). They totally ignore effects on GDP, productivity, etc.
In light of these recent events and the potential (if the senate doesn't grow a spine) damage to my budget I'm asking any of you guys out there who may be in need of insurance (global warming increases the chance of disaster you know!) to check out this site to get your quotes: Online Insurance Quotes

Reflections on Obama's 100 Days
It's been awhile since I've posted here. I wanted to take some time to digest the changes that have taken place with the Obama administration. Recently, I've experienced a new feeling about the situation. Maybe it was the tea parties spontaneously presenting themselves across the country, perhaps it was the realization that this great country, built and refined two hundred years can't be torn down in a fortnight. I know the idea of freedom still has an uphill battle. I know we are still divided by race, class, religion, ethnicity and all those things that play right into the left's hands... yet still I feel hope.
I think the American public has woken up to the fact that the government is out of control. Individual rights are under attack from both parties and up till now we haven't had an alternative, or someone in either party we could trust to scale back the beast. I think that figure will begin to emerge in the next few months or couple of years. I think Americans of all stripes still share those common values: Freedom, Independence, and Limited Government. I have hope, hope we can take this country back!

Drive By Media Orgy Surrounds Obama
Yesterday I talked of Obama the chosen one and the nausea I experience at the glee of my lefty friends at his ascendance. Today I actually vomited a bit in my mouth at the disgusting coverage by the drive by media. Repeated stories of how the world has changed and the 'new hope' has arrived has sicken me. It has started me to wondering how the media has gotten to it's current position as cheerleader of the left. I've got a couple ideas but you guys feel free to chime in.
1) People with a left leaning stance, who believe we need change and revolution, are drawn to the journalism field. If you think about it, it makes some sense. The ability to expose the innards of the evil capitalist USA, the platform to regurgitate the propaganda you've been fed, and the opportunity to demonstrate your elitist, holier-than-thou as an example to the unenlightened masses must be a powerful draw.
2) The leftist position of the media is a result of political correctness run amok. The last thing a program that desires to be popular would do is offend people. Unfortunately, sometimes the truth is offensive. Modern US society is dominated by the feminine concept of conflict avoidance; It is better to tell a pretty lie than the harsh truth. Political correctness is a symptom of peoples cowardice in the face of potential conflict. To this effect a hierachy is set up based on who should and should not be offended in the rare case offense is necessary. Topping this list of taboos are the leftist love children: blacks, women, hispanics, gays, etc. at the bottom are whites, males, and christians. The list is set up based on fear and cowardice with an undercurrent of racism. It is understood that blacks. hispanics, women, etc must not be offended for fear of lawsuits, blacklisting, or in some cases outright riots. There is no such repurcussions for speaking out against christians, or males.
What is thr 'real' reason? You tell me

Righty Whitey the Black Boogeyman
It occurred to me to post this today in response to the gloating of our lefty friends in light of their recent political victories. I've heard ad nauseum about how their ideology is truly winning the hearts and minds of Americans and how we are becoming more enlightened blah blah blah.
The truth is, this country hasn't accepted leftist doctrines, we haven't lost our taste of freedom, we've simply let our fears get the best of us. What do I mean? Take race for instance. In a country split virtually 50-50 between our two parties a small shift in any demographic can spell win or loss for a side. A 60-40 margin is considered a crushing defeat. How then do 90+% of blacks return to the polls year after year after year to vote democratic. FEAR.
Leftist know their success at the polls isn't about logical policies or convincing clear headed people to vote for them, it's fomenting bad emotions... hate , anger, discord and highlighting our differences in a divide and conquer strategy. To that end it is imperative that they continue to stir the pot of racism and hatred between groups. A large percentage of their propaganda revolves around repeating the lies that whites, especially on the right, hate blacks. Classism, racism, sexism, all the -isms are the bread and butter of their strategy. The point is to get us so suspicious and scared of each other that we are willing to accept more government influence in their lives.
Unfortunately, the basic emotional instinct of fear is often more powerful than the cerebral concepts of freedom and liberty. Friends of liberty must always be on alert.
