The White House issue an invitation to Republicans in congress today to attend a health care summit to be held on February 25th. The summit was described as the "next step" in the process of fixing our system. Obama plans to unveil his own package of health reforms, expected to be a compromise between the house and senate bills which have passed seperately at that time.
I have mixed feelings about healthcare reform. We already have a form of universal coverage without universal contribution as people are covered for a minimum of emergency care whether or not they choose to pay. In a way, I see the mandate covering for this. A tit for tat along the lines of if we have an obligation to treat you, you must have an obligation to contribute financially to that support. One should come with the other. Also, the poor already have medicaid and the rich can always afford whatever they want so any increase in accessibility to health coverage is bound to help the middle and working class (even if it is with their own money) In the meantime, try shopping around for health insurance here to see if you can avoid being a statistic.

Republicans seizing the moment!
Been awhile since my last post. I find watching the crash and burn of Obama to be entirely fascinating. The dems are fleeing like rats from the ship and the prospects for a republican resurgence is looming. Sieze the day!!!!
